Michael Hester Professor Billy 5/2/13 Paper 4 Keller and Filial Duties to our Parents Keller has a theory which discusses the relationship of children who have grown up and moved out of the house with their parents. This is something I hadn’t really put much thought into until we started discussing the issues and his theory in class. It really caught my attention because he the way he explains his theory and defends it is pretty interesting. Instead of just trying to provide examples of what he believes the duties should be for the kids he talks through the other three theories that people have brought up and discussed before him. These other theories are duties of indebtedness, duties of gratitude, duties of friendship. He doesn’t bash on these theories but he instead chooses to explain them and just explain how the reasons why they can’t really be true.
