I am extremely excited to sit down with you and work out a better campaign that will ensure you a more successful turnout for your next run for governor. Before we get started, I would like to give you a few pointers so you could start thinking about how you want to run your campaign before we start administering it. Follow my directions in this letter and people will for sure start to pay attention and remember you. Very well, I shall first advise you on how to get people to attend your speeches, campaigns, and conferences. In order to effectively convince people to come out or turn on the television to see you, we will manipulate people’s selective exposure and make them more willing to expose themselves to you. There are many reasons as to why people decide to attend and watch things. I believe that for our cause to get you seen, we will be focusing on utility and proximity . First off, utility basically means that people expose themselves to what it useful to them. You must make your people believe that what you have to say and what you propose to do is functional for them. So the next time we print out promotional posters about an appearance that you will make, we must include motivational slogans (since this is your forte) that lets your audience believe that you Tammie Tse tt6377 09/09/88 CMS315M Paper: Question #1 2 are of use to them, such as, “Learn the Kinky facts, your vote can change the way you live.” This will make your people feel as though if they come and listen to all of your propositions, they will learn the importance of your campaign and vote for you to better their lifestyle. Therefore, it is very valuable for them to come and listen to your speech. The second principle of selective exposure that we will utilize to help out your campaign is proximity, which essentially tells us that people are just lazy. People are more willing to see and attend things that are closer to them rather than far. So accordingly, those posters that I mentioned that we are printing out with your new slogan are going to be on every billboard in Texas and your actual speech will be repeatedly made in all the big cities of Texas. Therefore, everyone in Texas will know about it whether they’re walking down the street or driving in their car. On top of that, it will be very accessible for people to attend because the event will be happening in multiple places as well as being aired television....
