PREQUISITES: FIN 3403 – Financial Management of the Firm REE 3043 – Real Estate Principles OBJECTIVE: In this course, students learn to apply investment principles, analytical techniques and financial analysis to real property. Emphasis is on financing techniques and the estimation of revenues/expenses and risk/return relationships in investment valuation of realty and the effects of financing, income taxes, and entity selection upon investment profitability.

This course examines the various methods of financing real estate from the perspectives of lenders, developers, and owners, as well as the institutional structure within which they operate. The decision processes of these parties are outlined as they negotiate financing terms and conditions in order to achieve yield objectives within the constraints of acceptable risk levels. EXAMS AND GRADING POLICY: Your final grade in this course is a function of four non-cumulative exams. Each exam is worth 100 points. The dates for the exams are shown on the chapter outline. Exam Four will be given on the last day of our class. Your final grade may also be affected by attendance. You will also have the option of taking a Cumulative Final Exam to replace your
