Panic disorder causes severe,
uncontrollable anxiety (fear and
nervousness) in response to ordinary
situations. These repeated episodes of
intense fear—called panic attacks—are
usually accompanied by a variety of
physical symptoms. Such symptoms can
include shortness of breath, dizziness,
sweating, chest pain, heart palpitations,
