1. What is a GUI and how has it affected computing? GUI is the abbreviation for graphical user interfaces, and it provides the user with a desktop that contains icons that present a guide to what a program does or is used for. It has affected computing greatly; before the introduction of GUIs, a program that required the user to enter separate pieces of data did not allow them to go back and edit, or double check the data they entered. GUIs allow the user to now fill in separate data entries in any order, and allows them to edit previously entered data within a graphical box on the screen. 2. What are the three steps to develop a Visual Basic Program? The three steps to develop a Visual Basic Program are (1.) Design the appearance of the window that the user sees. (2.) Determine the events that the controls on the window should recognize. (3.) Write the event procedures for those events. 3. Summarize the history of Basic and Visual Basic. The first version of Visual Basic was released in 1991. In 1992, version 2.0 followed. Several more versions were released in the 90s with version 6.0 being made public in 1998. VB.NET was released in early 2002, and was not backwards compatible with the
