Both causing major impacts in different societies, the spread of epidemic diseases in the Americas in the sixteenth century and the spread of epidemic diseases in Eurasia during the fourteenth century were similar in generating huge numbers of deaths across societies. Regardless, there were also numerous differences regarding the responses and impacts on social, economic and political systems. Socially, both epidemic diseases caused huge amount of deaths as well as striking fear in their respective populations.
