Explain, with reference to the test. 1774 Declaration of Resolves - want entitlement to life, liberty and property - entitlement to rights of all free born citizens of England - just because emigrated, doesn’t mean rights go away - want representation in parliament o especially for issues of taxation and policies - right to be tried by their peers - entitled to protection under English laws - and all the immunities and privileges they had under charters - right to assemble, consider grievances, and petition the king o punishment for doing so is illegal - no standing army in peacetime - no legislative councils appointed by the king - trying to enslave America - taxes - extension of power of the admirality courts - stopping the port and blocking up the Boston harbor - altering the charter and gov of Mass-Bay
