Community ecologists seek to understand how various abiotic and biotic aspects of the environment can have an influence on the structure of communities. Community structure includes attributes such as the number of species, the relative abundance of species, and the kinds of species comprising a community. There are many factors which affect species richness. Some of them are external or abiotic while others are internal or biotic coming from within the community (McGraw Hill, n.d.). One factor of abiotic is the harshness of habitat which can affect the number of species that are able to survive in the community. Another factor of abiotic is the size of the habitat can affect the number of species which can live in it (McGraw Hill, n.d.).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
