Pain at the Pump For as long as I can remember the price of gasoline has been a problem in our country and around the world. When I was growing up, the price for a gallon of gasoline was just under a dollar. In the past few years, prices have gone up dramatically. I have been forced to take action in order to spend less money on gas. However, certain actions can be very restricting. Many Americans are beginning to cut down on driving to help their bank accounts. Gas prices are way too high, and I firmly believe making changes in our primary fuel source will benefit everyone for decades to come. As time goes on the prices of gas will only get worse. Every day we watch the news and listen to the radio only to hear reports of the cost of oil reaching new highs. We need to make changes now that will help all people in the long run. Senator Barack Obama said, "Now's the time to call for innovation and sacrifice from those institutions that can make a difference: the auto industry, the oil industry, the federal government." In a family with eight people, I take road trips often. The reason for driving to far destinations, instead of flying, is because it is cheaper than buying plane tickets for everybody. If gas prices continue to rise, the cost of traveling will be too much for American families to afford. High prices are going to eventually cause huge changes which can seem hard and intimidating, but necessary. There are many ideas out there to solve the problem at hand but these ideas are pointless unless someone takes action. As more and more people begin to realize that the price of gas is affecting their everyday tasks, hopefully they will take the initiative and make changes. Many car companies around the world have already take the first step to solving
