Bhavi Patel 05/31/11 AP Government Voting and Civic Responsibility Many ask why is voting important? Well, there are many reasons for why, for instances politicians make laws protecting and restricting social freedoms, they also determine the legality of issues like abortion, capital punishment, gay rights, civil rights and religion, and they also decide policy on issues like national security, civil liberties and the environment. In addition to this, since many citizens have something to say about some of these issues then they their voices need to be heard and the only way that’s possible is through voting. Therefore voting becomes a civic responsibility since it’s the citizen’s responsibility to help keep the United States a better place for the people and to do this one needs to vote. If voting and civic responsibilities are neglected then the consequences will not effect anyone but then citizens since it was the citizens’ fault for not voting and causing the country to have a bad leader.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
