Assert control= take people who have practical control and get them on your side 2. Transferred allegiance from one ruler to the next 3. No guarantee of comfort and security under new rulers b. Alfonso X- Alfonso the Wise i. Anti-Jewish teachings ii. Jews blamed for Black Plague- 1348 iii. Violence lasted until 1492 iv. Converses- Jews who converted to Christianity
