Concert 1 Name: “FutureSex/LoveSound” Artist: Justin Timberlake Time: 7:00pm Date: August 13, 2007 Place: East Rutherford, NJ (Continental Airlines Arena) Intro: Good Charlotte The main performer, Justin Timberlake performed all of his songs with multiple backup singers and dancers. His producer, Timbaland, was also there to perform the interlude. The place of performance was in the middle of a professional ice hockey arena, where the stage was set up in the middle of the floor, and the audience was completely surrounding the stage 360° and floor seats right along the stage, which is where I was standing. I do not believe the acoustic conditions were taking much into consideration. The stage was very open and the speakers were very loud to reach the entire arena. The concert performed 14 songs and it was two hours long. The titles of the songs performed (some were in medley where he mixed two together) are: Senorita Cry me a River FutureSex/ LoveSound SexyBack with Timbaland Sexy Ladies My Love Love Stoned What Goes Around Chop Me Up with Timbaland Damn Girl Summer Love Until The End of Time Losing My Way All Over Again Concert 2 Name: Boston College Band Fall Concert Artist: University Wind Ensemble Time: 8:00pm Date: November 13, 2007 Place: Gasson Hall 100 The audience was small, but very enthusiastic about the performance. It appeared to be mostly composed of family and friends of the performers. The acoustic conditions were created where the performers were at one end of the room and the audience was at the other. All of the instruments were placed in a “U” shape with the clarinets and the flutes on the two outside sides, the piano was on the left side, and the conductor was in the middle. The trumpets and percussion were in the back. The venue was just a simple rectangular room with very high ceilings. I do not

believe there was anything in particular done to the room to improve the acoustics. Three pieces were performed. The first one was called “Ratatouille Satirique”, composed by Erik Satie. It was divided into three movements called: 1. Prelude, from Jack in the Box 2. Reverie, from Trois petites pieces montees 3. LePiccadilly. The second piece was called “Suite Francaise” composed by Darius Milhaud. This piece was divided into four movements called: 1.Normandie 2.Ile de France 3. Alsace-Lorraine 4. Provence. The third piece was called Paris Sketches. It was divided into four movements called: 1.Saint-Germain-des-Pres 2. Pigalle 3. Pere Lachaise 4. Les Halles. The concert was one hour in duration. The performers were all of the members in a wind ensemble; flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, alto clarinet, bass clarinet, contrabass clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, bass trombone, euphonium, tuba, double bass, piano, percussion.
