Abstract: In this experiment we prepared a piece of chalk to reflect light from the spectrophotometer source. Then we determined the color of light of selected wavelengths from 400 to 700 nm. Next we measured the transmittance (or absorbance) spectrum for a red solution and a blue solution. We also did this for the green solution. Finally we recorded the data and plotted the results. Introduction: For this experiment we investigated this partitioning of light in the visible region of the spectrum and its interaction with colored solutions. We will be discovering what colors correspond to what wavelengths, and, for each several colored solutions, then we will collect the necessary data to construct a spectrum showing how light is absorbed at different wavelengths for the substances. Measurements of this kind are widely used in nearly all area of sciences. We will also be looking at each color and each unique position in the electromagnetic spectrum is identified by its wavelength. For the visible region, the lengths of the light waves are in range of
