Malik Kahel-Ringo 4/23/09 JNL228 McCarthy paper It seems to me that the “invasion of the Body Snatchers” and McCarthyism both share unmistakable connections with one another. Joseph R. McCarthy made his debut when he accused fifty-seven officials in government power as Communists and plus many other people as well. The whole country was up in an up roar and scared that everyone they see might be a terrible communist out to get them. The same scenario happens with the body snatchers but in this case it’s not communists that are out to get you but aliens that take over your body and make you different but keep you as the same person. I believe from what the Body Snatchers depicts its pod people as soulless, heartless beings its like wise with those who favor McCarthyism ( www. apl.org). Those that favor it tell us that they must like the knowledge of never giving good reason for judging those around them falsely with accusations of being a Communist. It didn’t help that during the 1940s-50s the second red scare came about with the whole country being afraid that every where around them their might be communists around out to snatch them away and convert them ( ). Hence the body snatchers debut in 1957. Joseph R. McCarthy figured a way to hold power that he never could have possibly dreamed of even if his ways were deceitful and wrong. He made it so that most Americans were on his side, and if they weren’t they were soon put fourth in court to break their ties with communism one way or another. He made it so that even the greatest of friendships soon ruined into nothingness. For those that supported the cause

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
