As symbol using animals, humans use signs throughout their societies to create knowledge and identities. Language in this sense is key, for it uses symbols and icons that help create thoughts and allows us to communicate with one another within societies, as well as communicating though the application of categories and images that create and maintain identities which are culturally based. Ideologies are also created through language for they express theories and other ways to explain the world in terms of signs. Americanism, for example, is an ideology that is created by the society itself through the specific language and conversation styles as well as the materials that they use. In The Simpsons clip, the American identity is created through the country style song that is sung, the truck that is being driven and the destruction that the truck causes, all of which are signs affected by the meaning of each and the interpreter based on the American identity. These can all be explained paradigmatically
