With three years and three months left in office he had plenty of time to turn around 'the Vietnam thing' as far as the world was concerned" (Parmet 117). Nixon had known that the Paris Peace Accords were bound to be violated by the North Vietnamese government and when this happened Nixon had devised a plan to continue the war in Vietnam. By continuing the war in Vietnam Nixon could have hypothetically obtained his foreign policy while returning all American troops and POW's by the end of his presidency.
