CSA O112.4, “Polyvinyl Adhesives for Wood” Polyvinyl adhesives shall be used in the manufacture of wood furniture and other wood assemblies, for the bonding of either wood or some non-wood materials to wood, where a highly moisture-resistant bond is not required. CSA O112.5, “Urea Resin Adhesives for Wood (Room- and High-Temperature Curing)” Urea-formaldehyde resin adhesives shall be used for the bonding of wood in the manufacture of plywood and for other bonding of wood or some non-wood materials to wood, where a high-strength and moisture-resistant bond is required. The adhesives are classified by type according to the temperature required for curing: Type I - room-temperature curing adhesive; or Type II - high-temperature curing adhesive. 2 of 10 The adhesive may be furnished as a: (a) liquid with a separate hardener or catalyst; (b) powder with a separate hardener or catalyst; or (c) powder with an incorporated hardener or catalyst. CSA O112.6, “Phenol and Phenol-Resorcinol Resin Adhesives for Wood (High-Temperature Curing)” Phenol and phenol-resorcinol adhesives and resins shall be used as a base for extended adhesives, to be used at temperatures above 85°C for the manufacture of plywood and other bonding of either wood or some non-wood materials to wood, where a high-strength, durable, waterproof bond is required. The adhesive may be furnished as a liquid, powder, or film with a separate hardener or catalyst, or filler when required. CSA O112.7, “Resorcinol and Phenol-Resorcinol Resin Adhesives for Wood (Room- and Intermediate-Temperature Curing)” Phenol, resorcinol, and phenol-resorcinol resin adhesives shall be used for the bonding of wood at temperatures below 85°C for structural laminates, general construction, marine applications, and other bonding of wood or some non-wood materials to wood, where a high-strength and waterproof bond is required. The adhesives are classified by type according to the temperature required for curing: Type I - room-temperature curing; or Type II - intermediate-temperature curing. The adhesive may be furnished as a liquid, with a separate hardener or catalyst, or as a powder with a separate hardener or catalyst. CSA O112.8, “Polyvinyl Adhesives - Cross Linking, for Wood” Cross-linking polyvinyl adhesives shall be used in non-structural, glued lumber products, such as interior and exterior mouldings, window and door stock, and glued lumber panels. The adhesives are classified by type according to the moisture resistance of the bond: Type I - for uses where a bond with a high degree of moisture resistance is required; or Type II - for uses where a bond with some degree of moisture resistance is required. CSA O112.9, “Adhesives for Structural Wood Products (Exterior Exposure)” Exterior exposure adhesives are used primarily to bond solid wood to solid wood material in structural wood...
