Physical Education and Health 4 Grade 12 v ph SLA No. 1 Subject Code/Number : CORE-154 Subject Title : Physical Education [Recreational Activities] Teacher : SERNA SOLON - SAGOLILI Time frame: Weeks 1 and 2 I. Introduction The average adult must spend a certain number of hours daily at some kind of work in order to earn a living or to care for a family. The growing child must attend school regularly. Eating, sleeping and other tasks are definite amount of time each day. But it is seldom necessary for a people to devote all their time for these occupations. Most of us have time in which we can do things for the sole reason that we find pleasure in doing such activities called recreation. This course is designed to provide various recreational activities for students to ensure positive and continuous development in the skills, knowledge and attitudes towards arts, sports and games and to develop desirable social values for character building. This is a recreational time program with provisions on the constructive and productive use of leisure time pursuits. II. Learning Competencies Self-assesses Health-Related Fitness (HRF) status, barriers to Physical Activities [PA] participation and one’s diet. Displays initiative, responsibility and leadership in recreational activities, optimize the energy systems for safe and improved performance. III. Learning Outcomes Explains the value of optimizing one’s health through participation in Physical activities [PA] Discusses the nature of different recreational activities Organizes event for a target health issue or concern. IV. Learning Content Importance of Recreation Real recreation is something which is not only to give pleasure, but also helps to renew or recreate the mind and body. Therefore the kind of recreation we engage is important to all of us. It becomes increasingly important as machines take over more of our work. Man now spends fewer hours earning his living then he did fifty or one hundred years older. The trend towards shorter working hours continues.
