Amanda Sesselmann, Ben Frazee, Joe Fox, Kie Pennington Division/Section: 2301 2/1/2007 Le Chatelier’s Principle Objective: To understand the chemical systems involved with chemical equilibrium and Le Chatelier’s Principle. Procedure: Equilibrium System #1 : Put 8 drops of 1 M Fe(NO 3 ) 3 and 8 drops of 1 M NH 4 SCN into 100 mL of distilled water. Put 5 mL of the solution into 8 medium sized test tubes. Place one test tube in an ice bath, and one test tube in a warm water bath. In the remaining 6 test tubes add solutions in a drop-by-drop fashion and only a few crystals of solids at a time. Add one of each of the remaining reagents: KSCN, 1 M NH 3 , Fe(NO 3 ) 3 , 0.1 M AgNO 3 , 1 M NaOH, and Saturated Na 2 HPO 4 into the 6 remaining test tubes. Record the observations. Equilibrium System #2 : Measure 10mL of 0.1 M HC 2 H 3 O 2 into 6 separate test tubes. Add 2 drops of bromphenol blue into each test tube. Add a small amount of each reagent: NaC 2 H 3 O 2 , KSCN, 1 M NaOH, NaCl, saturated Na
