2Kohlberg’s DilemmaIntroductionDr. Lawrence Kohlberg, a University of Chicago graduate, engraved his name in historyunder his influential work in psychology with his theory of moral development. Growing up inBronxville, New York, Kohlberg thought of becoming a clinical psychologist but then becameinterested in Piaget and the psychological work in developmental theory (Crain, 1985).Kohlberg, like Piaget, created a theory of development in morality, the difference between rightand wrong. Kohlberg’s stage theory presents three levels of moral development, and each stagecan be divided into two stages (Weiten, 2017).
