Abby Alon HW #24 1. A bureaucracy is a large, complex organization composed of appointed officials, where authority is divided among several managers and/or departments. 2. There are three factors that make our bureaucracy distinct that all other countries. 1-Agencies are ran by boards, not individuals. In the U.S. the constitution permits both the president and congress to exercise authority over the bureaucracy. 2- Many of the federal agencies overlap with other agencies in the government (like local and state governments). Though some federal agencies deal directly with American citizens the IRS collects taxes from them, the FBI looks into crimes for them, and The Postal Service delivers their mail, Many agencies work with other organizations at other levels of government. 3- Lastly, the government agencies in our country operate with high pressure from Americans and the court can challenge its authority. 3.
