Danielle Rendina Dance 35 Emio Greco/ PC Emio Greco’s Double Points: Nero began as soon as the audience members walked through the theatre doors. The stage area was foggy with five lights illuminating the dance floor. Two spotlights stood on each of the outer sides of the stage and faced the audience. A female figure was standing in the center of the stage and under the middle light. The dancer was wearing what appeared to be a dark, wool dress that fell to her calves and had long sleeves. I imagine that dancers wore these plain costumes because they did not distract from the dance and they allowed movement. The fog was so thick that it caused the illusion that the dancer was behind a screen. The dancer began by raising her arm to her face and then swung the other out and away from the center of her body. Her movements were slow and coupled with the fog and bright lights, the performer seemed to move in an eerie, flowing manner than was inhuman. So far, there had been continuous sound in the theatre, which was sharp and added authority and strength to the dancer’s every move. The music sounded menacing; there was a continuous, steady beat and soft
