October 12, 2007 FIELDWORK Ethnographer: cultural anthropologist who performs fieldwork and records his/her work in an… Ethnography: written account of an anthropologist’s fieldwork experience and results of his/her research. -both process and product It is almost necessary for a cultural anthropologist to write and record out in the field. It is their credentials. Ethnographic realism: writer’s goal was to present an accurate, objective, scientific account of a different way of life written by someone who knew it firsthand. Reflexive ethnography: the writer puts his or her personal feelings and reactions to the field situation right in the text.
