Olympus Esclepius; made temples for people to sleep in (huh?) o People did not usually go into the temples, except for those of Esclepius o Had snakes inside, a symbol of regeneration o People were healed inside the temples (probably psychosomatic, but they attributed it to the gods) Dodona—an oak grove where priests went to get the advice of Zeus; inspired by the rustle of leaves and got their answer, which they attributed to Zeus Apollo still most important god of prophecy Mother is Leto, sister is Artemis o No one will take the pregnant Leto in because they are frightened of Hera o She came to the island of Elos, built her a temple after she was born o Artemis helps with her brother’s birth o He leaves the island with instructions to build a temple (or was it a promise that one would be built for him on the island?? I don’t know) o Goes to Mt. Olympus to claim his rights as an Olympian god o Founds a second araculus center at Delphi, near the sea and Mt.
