1 Quiz 4 Solution Name: ______________________ Total ________________/50 Question 1 Short takes. 1. Show how one can implement a two-input logic AND operation using two diodes and a resistor. (2 points) Answer C is high when A or B is high 2. Show how one can implement a so-called wired-OR using two diodes and a resistor. (2 points) Solution C is high if A nor B is high. This circuit is really a misnomer and the circuit should be called a wired-nor. Still, it is widely referred to as a wired-OR. 3. Very briefly explain the purpose of the four diodes in the following, which depicts the input stage of a NAND gate. (1 point) Solution These are input protection diodes than ensure that the MOSFET gates stay within ± one diode forward voltage drop of the supply rails. Note: in the Quiz, I left out the image, so this question was extra credit if you answered correctly.
