Lab Assignment Sheet Exploring Constant Acceleration (Week 3) Model or Topic Explored: We will be looking at the constant acceleration particle model using the IOLab unit. We will be using some of the basic features of the ‘wheel’ on the IOLab unit along with the accelerometer to explore displacement, velocity, and acceleration. Please refer to the pre-lab video for instructions. All answers and graphs may be added electronically. Name: Date: Observables: The unit is rolling down an incline. It starts from rest and it goes faster in time. Constants: Starting position, acceleration, initial velocity, slope of track. Measurables: -Ry on iOLab- x- Position of the iolab unit as it moves, measure in meters. -Time- t -measured in seconds -Vy on the iOLab- v- Instantaneous velocity measured in m/s. Essentially this is how far something moves in a given amount of time similar to speed, only negative and positive represent the direction it is traveling in. -Acceleration- measures the increase or decrease in velocity over time. Problem Statement: How does _position/velocity/acceleration_ depend on __time___ ? How does velocity depend on position? Prediction: How does position depend on time?
