"Dandelion Wine" to the class. Gorman had difficulty pronouncing certain sounds. When
Gorman was 14 years old, she joined WriteGirl, a nonprofit organization in Los Angeles that
promotes creativity and self-expression to empower girls. At the age of 16, she was named the
first-ever Los Angeles Youth Poet Laureate. Gorman recently graduated cum laude from
Harvard University. She performed her poem "The Hill We Climb" at the ceremony, becoming
