Student Name: The New Fiction Module Review DIRECTIONS: As you review the lessons in this module, answer each of these questions. 1. What message about war does Hemingway express in “In Another Country”? How does he use the elements of fiction to express it? 2. How does the point of view in Katherine Anne Porter’s story “He” help express the story’s meaning? Sam Elston Hemmingway believed that war and more specifcally WW1 was horrible and did enough damage to an entire generation that he named them the lost generatiob. He thought that morality was lost and because of this people in the war acted with such inhumane brutality and cruelty. Hemmingway wrote In Another Country about a soldier healing from a wound in Italy while serving overseas. Hemming way utilizes a blunt and raw tone to get his thoughts across. Hemmingway's use of imagery also helps create a dark and dreadful enviroment to better convey the realities of the war.
