And why?(Minimum of 10 sentences) Emile Durkheim is one of the three big names in Modern Social theory next to Karl Marx and Max Weber. Durkheim is called the Father of Sociology, the formal study of society. He focused on social rather than individual explanations. Durkheim called norms, culture, values, law, morality, population size, political institutions and technology as Social Facts, they affect one another and people. Solidarity is the cohesion in society that holds it together. It's the sensation that individual members feel as they were part of the whole. Durkheim proposed two different ways that solidarity can work on; mechanical solidarity for pre-modern societies and organic solidarity for modern societies.
