Running head: A GEM OF A STUDY CASE 1 A Gem of a Study Case Busi 600 A Gem of a Study Case Assessment and Review Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, otherwise known as GEM is an organization that completes research that supports stimulation of entrepreneurship activity during periods of economic downturns. A number of groups worked together to collaborate on GEM
A GEM OF A STUDY CASE 2 research, producing results indicating different variables were in play during the study. These observations were noted as influential variables in the results of the research conducted. What are the independent and dependent variables of this study? Variables used in research are the entities that are to be measured in a particular study. The most widely used variables used in research are independent and dependent variables (Schindler, 2019). An independent variable is a variable that stands individually by itself and is not influenced by other factors that the research is attempting to comprehend. Independent variables affect variables that are dependent. The responses that are evaluated during a trial are dependent variables which react to the variable that is independent. In the GEM case study both dependent and independent variables are present. The dependent variable is a measurable result of manipulation of the independent variable or variables. It is represented by the change in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and job formation. The US Department of Commerce defines GDP as a measure of an economy and its growth (Bureau of Economic Analysis, 2021). The factors that will have a result of the change are considered independent. The independent variables in this study include: General National Framework Conditions- Infrastructure, Government, Technology Entrepreneurial Opportunities- Perception, Existence Business Dynamics- Births, Deaths, Expansion Entrepreneurial Framework Conditions- Governmental Policies/Programs, Education Entrepreneurial Capacity- Motivation, Skills (Schindler, 2019).
A GEM OF A STUDY CASE 3 2. What are some of the intervening, extraneous, and moderating variables that the study attempted to control with its 10-nation design?
