The lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) youth watching the video “it getsbetter”, probably in tears is telling themselves that “it’s okay”. That it’s okay to be them, that there can be a light at the end of the tunnel. Probably telling themselves that suicide is not the answer. Listening to the number of teens who have taken their lives away because they are not being accepted by their peers or the adults within their community is disheartening. Perhaps this video does the complete opposite and doesn’t give hope for the future. That he or she would never truly be accepted. The intolerant adult watching, one who doesn’t agree with this way of life, watching this video, in disbelief that for so many years they have neglected this population. That they have talked down on them. Perhaps even made fun of them at some point is now feeling guilty. All theyoung children who are killing themselves because they are not being accepted and the only way out, they can see is through suicide. This moment can change them. This moment can make themwant to raise awareness or this video can do absolutely nothing to change their minds, to open it up. To be more accepting this group of people because it’s not a part of their religion or because
