Writing Assignment 5 1. Description of solubility and melting point JoVE: the video discusses how values dissolve due to their factors such as ph, temperature, and pressure and what happens once they reach their limits. The melting point video describes what melting point is which is the temperature at which a substance starts changing from a solid to a liquid. This video also discusses what determines the melting point. Ionic bond – the non-covalent attraction that holds to charged ions, atoms together. Covalent bond – when two atoms share valence electrons complete each other’s outer shells completing the bond Hydrogen bond – a weak bond between two molecules resulting from an electrostatic attraction between a proton in one molecule and a electronegative atom in another. Dipole-dipole interaction – attractive forces between the positive end and one polar end molecule and the negative end of another polar molecule
