Introduction Moving from the late medieval times into the early renaissance changed the dynamics of the art world. What used to be a centralized action by the churches, changed to multiple different individuals being patrons of works of art. These people included mostly wealthy individuals such as popes, kings, queens, and princes. What effect do you think this new diversity in patrons had on the arts in the 15th-18th centuries? I believe a big effect of this patronage was the movement from theistic form of art to a more humanistic form. Even though it is possible this shift happened before the patronage, wealthy people supported this as it brought on an earthly, yet idealistic representation of them selves compared to the spiritual depictions of gods in former periods. The idealistic aspect was more welcomed then the truthful depictions from the latter Baroque art. The works of art also effected status among the political and economic landscapes.
