The different kinds of aging: Normative (general/universal including biological changes), Historical (cohort), Idiosyncratic (personal) -Things are Multidimensional: differences in cognition affects social interaction (normative), belief systems have changed (concept of independence/economic) (historical), religion (gay marriage) (idiosyncratic) -Video: Gizmod-A glimpse into your future: our historical context translates into social cognition -Will there always be long-term care? Or will it all become virtual -Difficult to know how historical conditions will play out (due to advance in technology, and how we cope?)

2 -Emotions playout -Link to changes in cognitive processing: older adults cant process as well thus, come to more snap judgements -In-group and out-group, want to be affiliated with group that has power: if something bad happens in the in-group then its not the person but the situation however, if its out-group you put blame on the person
