Sound: - No medium = no frequency - Period = 1/frequency = seconds/cycle - Shorter wavelength = shorter frequency, higher wavelength = higher frequency Amplitude- loudness Wave- vibration in both time and space, disturbance or variation which travels through a medium, transfer energy from one place to another Transverse waves- direction travels perpendicular to the direction of the vibrating source or medium Longitudinal- travels along the direction of the vibrating source; not sinusoidal, stressed and compressed - Waves can be reflected absorbed transmitted refracted or diffracted when coming into contact with different material or objects - Echos- sound reflecting off surface - Occurs with smooth surfaces - Angle of origination is equal to the angle of reflection
