How is occupational therapy distinguished from physical therapy? Occupational therapy is the use of meaningful occupation to assist people who have difficulty in achieving a healthy and balanced lifestyle. They also attempt to enable an inclusive society so that all people can participate to their potential in daily occupations of life. Physical therapists are more concerned with the prevention and management of movement disorders arising from diseases and conditions occurring throughout the life span. 2. List some of the typical employments sites for occupational therapists. Hospitals, including rehabilitation and psychiatric hospitals are the major employers. Home health agencies, nursing homes, etc. are also major employers. Some occupational therapists are also self-employed in private practice. 3. What is the general behavior of occupational therapists with regard to specialization?
