Zwicky 1 Garrett Zwicky English 150-03 Schaeffer 10/17/07 A New Spin on Old Classics The scent of patchouli and sight of dreadlocks and tie dyed tee-shirts outside the Pageant concert venue was a dead giveaway that Phil Lesh, former bassist of the Grateful Dead, was playing that night. The audience’s expectations were high even before entering the Pageant. People were attempting to predict the set lists and gauge the band’s performance before the show started. The high expectations were more than likely influenced by the steep ticket price of fifty dollars, with an additional two-dollar cover charge at the door for those of us who are not of legal drinking age. However, deadheads always have high hopes for a show that is performed by a former member and is jam packed with Dead songs. Entering the venue, there was a line for people of age, and a separate line for fans under twenty-one. The under 21 line directed audience members to a small section of the venue just to the right of the stage. This gave older attendees the dance floor in front of
