SOC 101 Jipson Discussion Sheet Four Due September 20 Name Answer the following questions from the Macionis text and discussion in class. Please feel free to write on the back. 1. Explain the influence of socialization – in your opinion – on you. (In other words, how do you think sociologically speaking that you became you?) I became myself by a series of confrontations, by a series of trials and tribulations nothing is precise or accurate more then looking back on my family and the experiences that I had. I grew up in such a way that there is no way that I could not be someone different if I had not experienced some of the interactions between myself, and my family, or my friends. The effect that social upbringing has on someone is so incredible to me, if you are rich or poor, black or white you are going to be a different person just based on those two simple factors. That’s TWO factors out of millions that radically effect who you are, that is pretty amazing to me. 2.
