The course emphasizes defining personal values, goal-setting andplanning, making decisions and solving problems, evaluating information and dealing withmedia and peer pressure, communication and relationships, decision making, wellness andpersonal safety, and contributing to your community.ExpectationsExpectation for actual teacher contact time:I will be contacting you throughout this semester. When I do call, email or text PLEASE returnthe message. It's important that I know how you are doing.My office hours are as follows: M-F, 10am-2pmExpectation for other student to teacher communication:Students should check their email daily and read any email announcements sent throughout thecourse. Students are welcome to contact the instructor via email or phone and can expect aresponse back within 24 hours. Email is my preferred way of communication, however do nothesitate to call if you feel you need to.Expectation for student participation (attendance):A regular school week consists of five school days per week (excluding holidayweeks) and students are expected to complete one hour of work per school day for atotal of five hours per week for this course.BlueSky's attendance policy is that you need to submit a minimum of 15 completed
assignments a week between all of your classes to be counted as present for theweek.If you are sick or have a family emergency that constitutes as an excused absenceyou must have your parent/guardian call your absence in: 651-642-0888 or email:[email protected]Academic support available to online students:Your instructor is available to provide academic support M-F, 10am-2pm or by appointment,please contact me to set this up as needed.Format and frequency of progress reports:A mid-semester progress report will be mailed after 9 weeks and a Semester Report Card will bemailed after the semester is done. Students will be able to view their grade book and grades willbe accurate as of Monday for all work completed the previous week.Format and timeline of submission of the final grade and credits earned to enrolling district:This course is worth .5 credits. Final grades will be posted in the course within 3 days after theend of the semester and reported to the school Registrar.Course OutlineLife Skills (.5 credits)Prerequisites: NoneGoals and Objectives:The learner will explore basic life skills from setting goals and establishing values to careerpaths, what it means to be a good citizen, and being part of the "global community".
