SOCA 252: Introduction to Physical Anthropology Review Sheet Exam #5 The exam is composed of 46 multiple choice (including true/false) questions. This exam covers the material in Stanford et al. chapters 9, 10, and 11 (pages 277-283. Please note that vocabulary which repeats from earlier in the course might be necessary to complete this exam; however this exam will focus on the new material. Topic one: Taphonomy, fossilization (what fossilizes and how fossils form), and archaeology: how do we understand fossils (morphology; ecology; dating—both relative and absolute); contributions of archaeology. Some additional terms: stratigraphy; law of superposition; FUN trio; radiometric dating in general and three techniques in particular: carbon-14 dating, potassium-argon dating, argon-argon dating (for last three—what is actually dated?).
