He states,“Hope is itself a species of happiness, and, perhaps, the chiefhappiness 5 which this world affords: but, like all other pleasures immoderately enjoyed, theexcesses of hope must be expiated by pain” (Lines 3-7).Johnson discloses that even thoughthere’s hope in every situation but in the end, it could be destroyed and followed by pain.
