MEASUREMENT OF MASS, LENGTH, AND TIME Purpose The purpose of this lab is to analyze the definition of precision and accuracy using different measurement techniques and tools. In addition, this labs was used to gain a better understanding of metric values used while taking measurements. PROCEDURE 1. Use the short (1m) meterstick to measure the length and width of the lab table. Record five measurements from different parts of the table. 2. Repeat the above using the long (1½ m) meterstick. 3. Use the digital caliper to measure the dimensions of the plastic object. Measure at different points along the length, width, and thickness of the plastic object. 4. Use the triple beam balance to take five measurements of the mass of the plastic object. 5. Use the digital caliper to measure the diameter and length of the white metal cylinder. 6. Use the triple beam balance to measure the mass of the white metal cylinder. 7. Repeat Step 5 & 6 for the golden metal cylinder.
