1. Do you think that punishments deter crime? Why or why not? Do you think there is a better way to reduce crime than punishment? In my opinion, punishment usually persuades crime. In most cases, when someone knows that his action may have consequences that may affect him, he will stop, but punishment does not always deter crime. For example, if you tell your child that if he eats the sweets on the table he will be punished without iPad for a week, he probably won't eat it, because he knows there are consequences. I think there is no better option than punishment, people do not learn until they suffer the consequences. 2. Do you think that alternative sanctions such as boot camps are positive or negative for society, individuals, and the criminal justice system? Why? In my opinion boot camps are positive to society, but negative to the criminal that is in there. They seem to me like very hard methods. They are indeed able to reform someone, but I don’t think that it is the best option, they remember me to the concentration camps.
