1. Why is it important to secure the crime scene? What do you think would be the most difficult part of doing this? It is important to secure the crime scene because anyone that isn’t a trained professional can possibly contaminate or even destroy the evidence. Also, isolating the scene keeps unauthorized individuals from entering. Usually, when investigators secure the area, it is made larger than the crime scene to make sure they did not miss any sort of evidence 2. What type of recording do you think would be the most useful to crime investigators? Why? I believe that photography would be the most useful to a criminal investigator. This is because photos show the exact time, date, place, and a clear image of what the scene looked like. 3. What do you think would be the best method of submitting evidence to a crime lab? Why? I believe personally delivering the mail would be the best method of submitting evidence to the lab. If you deliver the package in person, you could thoroughly explain to the forensic scientist what needs to be done and a clear description of the item 4. What type of evidence do you think would be most difficult to collect? Why? Finding hairs and fibers would be the most difficult to collect at a crime scene because they are tiny and it can be hard to find them. 5. What does the Fourth Amendment protect against? Do you agree with these restrictions on collecting evidence? Why or why not? The Fourth Amendment protects individuals from getting searched and arrested without a reason or warrant. I agree with this restriction when it comes to collecting evidence because everyone has a right to their own property and law enforcement cannot come barging into their house without a sufficient amount of evidence against that person. gg
