Sailor Hufman APUSH 06.04 The Jazz Age Mr. Maynard 02.05.21 06.04 Assessment Template 1. Select ONE source to analyze. First Selected Source Title: Document 3 Call For Unity Between Black and White Laborers 2. Write a one-paragraph thesis response to the prompt that uses only your background knowledge and this one chosen document. Thesis Response: In the 1920s, tensions involving culture, gender, ethnicities, and race rose tremendously. The U.S had become a melting pot for many different cultures and peoples because of the number of immigrants. However, despite their many differences, they all came together to fight the class issue. “…Getting of more wages, shorter hours, and better working conditions”. Everyone agreed and shared this goal, along with many more. 3. Analyze ONE additional source from the list above. Examine the prompt again and your thesis response. Second Selected Source Title: Document 2 Anti-Lynching Broadside 4. Write a second paragraph reflection explaining if and how you would change your thesis based on this additional document. Explain your reasons for changing or not changing your thesis.
Sailor Hufman APUSH 06.04 The Jazz Age Mr. Maynard 02.05.21 Reflection: Even though races, such as African Americans, were discriminated against throughout the Jazz Age, they were still granted the right to vote. Thus, allowing them to protest against politicians that had previously supported the “lynching” of African Americans. This shows how individuals with different backgrounds were given the opportunity to change things during this age. Though the tensions between races were high, treatment towards people of color changed for the better. This shows that my thesis for Document three, Call For Unity Between Black and White Laborers, is correct as a result of it shows how those of all different ethnicities and race have the ability to receive improved rights thanks to the growth of America, even though racial problems haven’t disappeared completely.
