Benefits of Using Visual Aids Not every speech calls for visual aids. There are three main benefits of using visual aids: a. Visual aids make the speech more interesting b. Visual aids enhance the speakers credibility c. Visual aids improve comprehension and retention Visual aids can be a powerful distraction. Types of Visual Aids The varieties of visual aids can be grouped conveniently under five headings: charts, graphs, representations, objects or models, and people. Chart- a visual arrangement of words or numbers according to some obvious principle. Flowchart- a chart showing the "flow," or progress, through several steps, with alternative paths showing the outcome of different decisions. Graph- a visual display of relationships, showing how change in one thing is related to change in another. Line graph- a graph in which a line connects points, each of which
