Tami Kunst Journal 6 Younger Siblings, Yikes!! Being the first born, parents expect so much responsibility out of you. “You are their role model,” they say, “whatever you do, they will copy.” Thanks for laying that pressure on my shoulders. I was only two years old, when I was forced to share my parents with my baby sister. I have had them to myself for two full years and wasn’t quite ready to become a giving big sister. And then another two years later, I had to share with my brother as well. I thought it would be great having younger siblings to boss around, but there is a lot more involved then just commands. There’s responsibility and blame. Many single-children claim they wish they had siblings, but they have no idea. Of course it is great fun playing school and being the know-it-all teacher or playing house and being the strict mother. But with the good times comes expectations. Because I was the first born, I was expected to be the perfect, flawless child.
