Rise of aristocratic social power in 18 th century France. The aristocrats, returned back to Paris after Louis the 14 th ’s death. Louis the 16 th was Louis the 14 th ’s son. The term Rococco comes from the french word rocaille (means a pebble). Refers to the small stones and shells often used to decorate the rococco interior.
