Sarah Drumm Development of Sociological Theory Assignment 2 According to Marx Capitalism will eventually fall because it can not bear the rise of productive forces. There will come a point in time when Capitalism reaches its limit and can no longer increase the constant capital at the expense of variable capital to increase profit. Capitalists are constantly looking for new ways to overcome this. Some of these methods of increasing constant capital include outsourcing jobs, employing immigrant workers, expanding factories, and relocating the base of production. These mechanisms show just how far a company will go to increase profit at the expense of wage workers. All one has to do find examples of sweatshops and hiring of immigrants is to do a simple search on Google.com. Simply putting in the key words “sweatshop” and “Nike”, I was able to come up with 331,000 results. Of these results I found an article on Sweatshops published in 2004.
