Sarah Drumm Development of Social Theory Assignment 6 The wave of internet pact suicide clubs could be considered an egoistic suicide. The Japanese individuals participating in these online suicide clubs are usually young and generally have weak societal ties. Hiroshi Macue, in a sick twist, murdered individuals who wanted to commit suicide with him. The individuals who sought to commit suicide were obviously estranged from society as evidenced by the fact that even through the act of killing one’s self they sought the comfort of being with others. The story mentioned in the assignment was that of a Hiroshi Macue who preyed on individuals seeking to join a suicide pact and commit suicide with a like minded person so that they would not die alone. However rather than commiting suicide with the troubled youths, Hiroshi killed them himself. The case of the suicidal 14 year old boy therefore was not suicide but rather a case of murder. If they boy had killed himself I believe that it would have been an egoistic suicide
